Raved at SW4? Crowd surfed at Burning Man, or bobbed along at Bestival?

If you’re one of millions that have visited a festival and partied hard this summer, you may need to book some additional time off work for rest and rejuvenation.

According to Booking.com, the trend for wellness getaways post festival season isn’t slowing down in 2018, with almost double the amount of people planning to take health and wellbeing trip in September making it one of the most exciting months to travel.

More than half of (56%) of revellers want to get involved in a hiking or walking trips when it comes to booking their next adventure. A third want to enjoy spa facilities to find their inner calm, while almost a quarter  (24%) want to cycle in fresh air and 16% want to do yoga to find help re-balance their ‘Chi’.

Health and wellness trips can be good for the mind. Going on holiday to take time to reflect and make better lifestyle choices – ahem – is something that can be easily be done, whether that’s traveling long haul or holidaying closer to home. What? No more partying! Please say it isn’t so?!

Here’s five detox destinations that might help you get over those festival blues:

Algarve, Portugal

Hike to the “End Of The World” cliffs, enjoy 4×4 rides and beaches galore in the gorgeous Algarve. The Vilalara Thalassa Resort is located up in the mountains overlooking Praia das Gaivotas and the Atlantic Ocean. It has a luxurious spa, 6 outdoor pools and 2 restaurants. Spacious suites are surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens and 4 tennis courts.

Monte Carlo, France

There’s not much to stress about in Monte Carlo outside of Grand Prix season. The glistening French Rivera is lined with glamorous beaches, fine dining and of course, retail therapy. Check into The Monte Carlo Bay, which is right on the beach and close to Prince’s Palace of Monaco.

Vancouver, Canada

Vancouver in September is just divine. The sunsets glow over English Bay beach, cycling through Stanley Park takes you back to nature, and there are so many amazing mountains to hike including Grouse Mountain. Residences on Georgia overlooks downtown Vancouver and Canada Place, with a glorious backdrop of Cypress Mountain and a fresh ocean breeze.

Kyoto, Japan

Temples, shrines and bamboo forests – you can’t get more Zen in Asia than Kyoto. The Kyoto Granbell Hotel is full of traditional Japanese charm. The best thing is the Onsen (hot spring) public bath, which looks out onto a pretty Japanese garden.

Salzburg, Austria

Newly opened in January 2017, Cool Mama is the uber trendy stay in Salzburg; one of the most laid back cities in Europe and a great way to recharge after a long summer of partying. Salzburg is also the home of Mozart, so why not Spotify some classical music and enjoy the fabulous bath tub views.
