Five trends to look out for in the sales of the century…

The shops are opening on June 15th and many stores will be keen to offload stock that hasn’t been sold during the current Coronavirus crisis. That means massive savings for you and me, with the added upside we’ll be shopping for stuff that hasn’t had the chance to become tired. We’ve hardly seen any of the new spring/summer stock at all so it will feel brand new and exciting. Hooray!
The downside is we might rush into buying something because it is on sale. And who hasn’t done that? I still rue the day I bought a pair of pink four inch heels that I couldn’t walk in and that was about 10 years ago!
Sales shopping is all about snapping up something you need and or love. Never buy anything that is neither beautiful or useful to steal from the William Morris quote subsequently the mantra of queen of tidy, Marie Kondo.
It’s a bargain if you’ve stalked it online or in the shops (before lockdown) and would have paid full price for it. It’s also a bargain if it’s a classic. A gorgeous cashmere coat, an exquisitely made shirt, a pair of designer jeans or a beautiful sweater. And it’s a bargain if it falls into the category of trend that will last into next season and beyond.
You might also want to invest in summer staples for a holiday you plan to take later this year – when the autumn/winter collections hit the rails. Swimwear, kaftans, sandals and sunnies are all great buys.
Here at VIVA we’ve picked out some trends we know will be big for later in the year and beyond. Now all you have to do is go hit the high street. Happy shopping!
Black
Black simply doesn’t date as much as colours and patterns and there was lots of it on the A/W 2020 catwalk which perfectly justifies a splurge!
The Big Sleeve
Sleeves are big (literally) next season as well as for summer so get hitched to the trend right now. I love this little Boohoo number that can be worn now with a wedge sandal and with boots in autumn. It’s a win-win!
Check
Check is another box you can tick for A/W 2020. From oversized blazers to slouchy trousers, it’s a great Spring/Summer trend that will last over the next season and beyond.
Red
Specifically the red dress. Great with a tan, perfect worn with black opaques and an ankle boot in the autumn.
Boiler suit
Another trend that is not going to go away. This is indeed the perfect workwear. Just pull it on in the morning and you’re dressed for the home office. Dress down with trainers and transform for evening with a high heel.
