Stemming from the small island of Anglesey, north-western Wales, the ever-growing Gottwood Festival has just announced its line-up to its forthcoming seventh summer on the underground electronic music scene.

Unlike the majority of camping festivals, the independent four-day festival prides itself in its unique dense forest surroundings where a variety of stages are built annually, each sporting individual themes as well as very lively atmospheres.

However, it’s not just the lake front stages or electronic laser-dome that help the intimate festival stand out from the crowd. Gottwood manages to blend art with music, displaying large sculptures and murals throughout the woods from independent street artists, which are added to and improved over the four-day weekend. Whilst the art and stage designs change each year, some of the bigger and better pieces make a return every summer, particularly the iconic ‘Mother Owl’ stage, where the DJ performs their set inside a 12 ft tall wooden owl.

The line-up annually consists of artists from across the UK, as well as Eastern Europe, ranging from hip-hop group Mouse Outfit to recurring DJ Ralph Lawson. The festival is known to produce a range of both famous and not-so-famous artists, including the likes of Cassio Kohl, Ben UFO and up-and-coming DJ’s such as Anglesey’s own Nick Wood.

After its increased fame and fortune in the last couple of years, Gottwood has definitely fallen under high expectations for the summer 2016 line-up announcement, however, with all eyes finally being able to look at what Gottwood is pulling out of the bag this upcoming summer, one can safely say it has succeeded to be met with strong approval among many.

Included in the line-up is Swedish-house DJ Axel Boman, drum and bass group Optimo, as well as electronic dance duo Psychemagik whom are all set to make an appearance in the woods among many other underground artists.

The electronic, alternative musicians are what help build the overall relaxing and carefree nature of the festival, captivating the crowds and sending people home moping in Gottwood blues and eagerly waiting for the next year’s ticket release date.

Unfortunately, with more than a thousand of the five thousand available tickets sold in the first hour alone, it may be too late for some to enter the woods June 2016.

We have, however, already got our eyes set on Gottwood 2017 which is sure to not be one to miss.

‘See you in the woods’.
