How to get a natural bronze glow this summer

Well, it’s official. The Great British summer is almost here. Whilst Britain is currently in the epicentre of arguably the world’s biggest pandemic to date, we have decided here at VIVA that we simply cannot let COVID-19 get us down.
Whilst we all fumble through lockdown, spending our lives in our indoor bubble, baking an obscene amount of banana bread and binge-watching Tiger King on Netflix (Carole Baskins?!), we at VIVA have decided that enough is enough.
Therefore, we have put together the sun-solution for all our VIVA readers.
It is a well-known fact that sunlight increases the amount of Serotonin your body creates. Serotonin has been known to reduce depression and anxiety and just generally makes you feel happier and calmer overall (let’s be honest, we could all do with bit of a mood boost in these uncertain times).
Not only that, with millions of holidays cancelled or postponed this year it seems there are a lot of us chasing those rays. With that being said, sit back and relax – and welcome to VIVA Airways.
We would like to remind all passengers that the exits are positioned towards the front of your building, also known as your front door.
Yes! Providing you aren’t showing any flu like symptoms (if you are – I’m sorry but it is isolate, isolate, isolate for you), you are allowed to leave your house/apartment for an hour’s exercise per day. That’s plenty of time to take a nice stroll somewhere quiet, go for a run and soak in that Serotonin to increase your mood levels.
For those lucky passengers with gardens or balconies (I bet you guys feel like you are flying first class now aren’t you?) utilise them! Dust off those sun-loungers and pull out those paddling pools. Now is the time for you to shine. So why not crack open a bottle of bubbly or experiment by making your favourite holiday cocktail, get your fave Ibiza tunes on, close your eyes and soak up those rays!
Now for those topping up their tans in the sun, we have some tips for you. Firstly, it may seem like the UK is no place for sunburn – but believe me it is! I, myself have recently had a sun faux pas which included a burnt behind due to a lack of sunscreen (clearly, I missed a spot).
Skincare experts recommend a high factor SPF for the face (we don’t want wrinkles) and a medium/high factor SPF for the body depending on your skin type.
I have been using the Coola Eco-Lux sunscreen spray SPF30 for body and Murad City Skin Broad Spectrum SPF 50 for face.
To keep your skin hydrated, always be sure to follow up your skincare regime with an aftersun or lotion once you come back inside. I use Ouai Aftersun Body Soother.
For those of you who may not have access to an outdoor area for a prolonged period of time, this Manchester based brand, Rose & Caramel may have the answer – so you can fake it until you make it! The Rose & Caramel range has become highly coveted by celebrities and influencers alike, all because of the natural looking, bronzed glow you can achieve at home.
However, just because access to the sunshine may be limited for you, it in no way means you need to shut yourself off and pretend that the sun isn’t shining. Draw your curtains back as far as they will go and get those windows opened! We guarantee that you will feel a million times better with that fresh summer breeze circulating through your home.
Now before you depart VIVA Airways, we would like to remind our passengers to please check you have your SPF when collecting your luggage and we wish you all a safe onward journey.
