Bugzy Malone shares his creative inspirations with VIVA

Bacardi has just launched a new campaign having teamed up with artists that have contributed their work to the cities they’ve grown up in hence the interview. Viva caught up with Manchester’s very own Bugzy Malone to talk about the collaboration and his brand-new album.
VIVA Chaise: What made you partner up with Bacardi?
Bugzy Malone: I just feel like they are working with a similar ethos to what I’ve got going on at the moment. It’s great that BACARDÍ is providing artists with a platform to talk about our creative inspirations, the places and people that have influenced us and our music. When two powerful brands come together and create something powerful… it’s amazing, and that’s exactly what we did.
VIVA Chaise: Through your music you express how much your hometown means to you, what would you say your favourite thing about Manchester is?
Bugzy Malone: Mainly the atmosphere – I think the way people are so unified in Manchester is very unique thing, but yes, the atmosphere in the city in general.
VIVA Chaise: What would you say motivates you to make music and get in the boxing ring?
Bugzy Malone: My motivation for getting in the ring at the time, was to be able to defend myself. My motivation for music, was to be able to express myself. I feel like everybody should be able to do that.
VIVA Chaise: Now that you have made the pathway for artists in Manchester do you think more artists from Manchester will be making there mark this year?
Bugzy Malone: 100% yeah!
VIVA Chaise: What would be your advice to upcoming artists in Manchester?
Bugzy Malone: To work harder than anyone else, especially the artists that are even closer to the industry.
VIVA Chaise: As you are an artist and boxer if you had to choose between the two which one would you choose?
Bugzy Malone: Music

VIVA Chaise: What would you say your ultimate goal is as an artist?
Bugzy Malone: To go down in history as the greatest of all time.
VIVA Chaise: How do you normally prepare yourself for a show?
Bugzy Malone: A lot of natural vibes, the way I’d prepare for a night out as a youngster, do you know what I mean? I just want to be able to bring that energy onto the stage.
VIVA Chaise: If you could describe a Bugzy Malone show in one word what would it be?
Bugzy Malone: Energy!
