QUILL IS HERE! Following weeks of suspense Manchester’s newest fine dining restaurant and bar was revealed for the first time at a glamorous celebrity packed party last night (Thursday 29 October).

The cast of Coronation Street including Kym Marsh, Hayley Tammadon and Shayne Ward joined The Real Housewives of Cheshire Dawn Ward, Ampika Pickston and Leanne Brown plus footballers Wilfried Bony and Bacary Sagna.

Guests enjoyed a selection of canapés including crispy haggis truffle emulsion; razor clam, mango and curry plus pigeon smoked eel, orange and yuzu. They drank hundreds of expertly created cocktails and glasses of champagne and wines.

The team behind the King Street restaurant, headed up by entrepreneur Chris Longmate, have kept details of the exciting new venue under wraps until last night’s event.  Collective Design, a specialist bar interior design company, is behind the look of the sixty cover first floor dining room which also boasts a private dining area seating up to 21 and ground floor cocktail bar and terrace.

The restaurant will serve an A La Carte and 8-course Tasting Menu and the food has been described as modern British cuisine, with European influences.  Diners will be wowed by Head Chef Curtis Stewart and his team from the open kitchen.

27-year-old Curtis Stewart, who is from Bury, returns to Manchester after having made his name at the two Michelin-starred Whatley Manor in Wiltshire and the then Michelin-starred Coworth Park near Ascot, Berkshire.  Plus he was head chef at Cotswolds hotel, Foxhill Manor, and has also worked at a number of respected 3AA Rosette restaurants.

Curtis’ A La Carte menu* is served in chapters with starters including squid & octopus served with garlic curd, lime and consommé; foie gras with smoked eel, pecan and orange and chicken oyster with bone marrow, salsify and red grape. Chapter Two will include dishes such as lobster with mango, coconut and bisque and duck served with turnip, smoked garlic and hen of the woods.

The much awaited cocktail list has been inspired by the idea of the quill.  This theme runs through exquisitely designed, innovative cocktails from some of the finest mixologists in Manchester.

Chris Longmate, CEO of On The Wall, commented; “Wow what a night. It was exhilarating to see all of our hard work come together last night as we showcased Quill to friends and colleagues in Manchester for the first time. I am grateful to all of our VIP guests who came to show their support and raise a glass or two to our newest venture.  Now we focus on the opening and showing the restaurant and bar to our first customers tonight.  We’re already fully booked this weekend but the bar will be open daily.”

The restaurant will be officially welcoming diners for the first time this evening (Friday October 30th) when it opens the doors at 7pm.  This weekend is fully booked but those who can’t wait to see it for themselves can enjoy drinks in the bar.

The bar at Quill will be open Sunday to Thursday from 12pm until 12am, Friday to Saturday from 12pm until 2.30am.  The restaurant will serve lunch from 12 noon until 2.30pm, afternoon tea between 3 and 5pm and evening service will be from 6.30 until 9.30pm.
