Is Cheshire becoming the new cosmetic surgery capital?

There are over 20 cosmetic surgeries across Manchester and Cheshire, with over 12 of these being based solely in Cheshire. Whilst money is a huge reason why Cheshire is so popular amongst cosmetic surgeons, it is also due to wider causes such as social media filters and un-realistic role models.

According to data from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the number of cosmetic operations conducted last year fell 40% to a near-decade low after a record-breaking high in 2015.

However, BAAPS said that, consequently, the number of non-surgical treatments such as facial injectables was still rising steadily. In fact, recent figures have shown that cosmetic procedures for women shot up by 13% in the past year and face and neck lifts increased by 16%!

The BAAPS’ president, Rajiv Grover, singled out selfie apps that incorporate photoshopping filters as one cause of the rising demand. The use of the Snapchat filter has been huge over recent years with over 158 million users every day (Snap Inc. stats)

As a result of this, more celebrities are showcasing their own cosmetic surgeries and their filter-like features are causing the Snapchat trend of having toned, youthful and smooth faces to rise.

However, cosmetic surgery is costly and so richer areas such as Cheshire are the places surgeons are putting down their roots. Quickly making Cheshire one of the cosmetic surgery capitals in the North.

Dr Raj Acquilla, Founder of YUVA MEDI-SPA in Alderley edge said: “Our philosophy is to make our patients not only look good but feel better about themselves through proven, safe and effective procedures.

“We understand the emotions that are attached to age-related changes in appearance and endeavour to make all our patients experience and journey with us a memorable and positive one.”
