Hot on the heels of their sell-out courses in London, the UK’s leading provider of tech camps for kids is coming to Manchester this Easter.

When the President of the United States declares computer coding to be “a basic skill, right along with the three Rs”, you know it’s serious stuff.

In our highly digital society, it’s no surprise that technology is the way forward when it comes to equipping our children with the skills to compete for opportunities and employment in the future.

With this in mind, Manchester parents are in luck as Fire Tech Camp, the UK’s leading provider of holiday tech camps for children and teens, is coming to the city this Easter with a series of day camps.

Fire Tech Camp enables kids to have fun bringing together creativity and innovation while getting to grips with the latest technologies, such as building apps, video gaming, exploring coding or pushing their creative limits with Minecraft. Not only do the camps empower kids to create something amazing, but they also equip them with incredible future tech skills which can open up a world of opportunity.

“Today, many of our kids love to consume games, apps and websites but don’t know how they can develop this interest further” said Jill Hodges, who founded Fire Tech Camp in 2012. “School lessons cover the basics but simply can’t get under the skin of these technologies in the way that a dedicated camp can. At Fire Tech Camp we immerse kids in their favourite technologies, build their knowledge and inspire and support them to create something they are really proud of and, for some, develop a lifelong fascination with technology.”

The courses, which are taking place at the University of Manchester over four days, from 29 March to 1 April 2016, are:

  • Minecraft Maker
  • Creating mobile apps
  • Video game design
  • Coding games with Java
  • Coding with Python

And don’t worry if your youngsters aren’t already tech-savvy – there’s no need for any prior experience with coding, our camp instructors will work to each child’s ability and experience.

Jill moved to the UK from the States where she saw the incredible success of tech camps. Looking for something similar for her own children in the UK with no luck, she made the decision to start her own.

“We offer something really, really special,” she said. “The kids who come to the camps absolutely love the opportunity to try something new and embrace the technology skills we give them, while for parents, we’re providing their children with stimulating activities that will continue to benefit them long after their course is finished.”
