Since shooting to fame in 2018 on ITV’s Love Island, Jordan Adafey is now one of the UK’s most sought after models.
With campaigns ranging from JD Sports, Boohoo Man, Nike and Adidas, Jordan’s career has been going from strength to strength.
We caught up with former Love Island hunk and current model sensation Jordan Adafey to see how he was handling life in lockdown and to find out what the future has in store for one of Manchester’s most eligible bachelors.
So, Jordan how are you currently surviving lockdown?
Well, for the first two weeks I was sort of enjoying it. I had two weeks of laziness just chilling out, drinking beers in the sun and eating crap. After that I started to become more productive. I started working out and training again and just generally keeping myself busy and occupied. I’m always on the go so it’s hard for me to sit still and do nothing.
What do you like to do in your spare time (when we aren’t in lockdown)?
Well usually I’ll wake up early, go on a dog walk and then get some breakfast. After that I would head to the gym and then head to town to meet up with some friends. I really like to network, and I love to socialise. After that I may head home, get a change of clothes and head out to the bars around Manchester.
Sundays are my chilled days of the week. I’ll have a lie in and maybe go to the cinema or see my family.
Favourite bar
It has to be Club Liv in Manchester. I’m always in there with the boys.
Favourite Restaurant
My favourite restaurant is an African place in Manchester called Roots. With me being half Nigerian I like my home dishes.
How did you get into the fashion industry?
I actually began my career as a car salesman. From about fifteen years old to around twenty I was selling cars for a living. It was my twin brother who got picked up and signed by J’Adore modelling agency. I went with him to their office and they offered me a contract too. I wasn’t too sure about it at first, as I’m a bit of a lad’s lad, but I decided to just go for it.
Within my first week I was given my first job which was a North Face campaign for JD.
That was my first big break and something I am most proud of. Within a matter of weeks, I was on huge billboards all around Europe. I had family and friends sending me so many messages saying they had seen my face in various places, it was such an amazing experience.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
My retirement dream at the moment is living in America in a log cabin by the lake. I’d love to walk outside and be surrounded by nature.
Before that I want to have my own successful business and I’d like to make a difference in the world. By the time I’m 30 I would love to have my own modelling agency as I spend a lot of my time mentoring younger models who have just got into the business. I want to give something back.
When it comes to your dating life, what qualities do you look for in a woman?
For me, it’s really important for a girl to have a good sense of humour. I like a girl I can have a laugh with. A girl with insecurities is a big turn off for me as I’ve dated girls like this before and I feel like their insecurities can rub off on me and in turn make me insecure.
I like to surround myself with positive people so for me someone who isn’t afraid to let their hair down and have a laugh is a winner.
What has been your best and worst date?
The best date I had was at Roxy Ballroom in Deansgate. We played beer pong and then headed over to Junk Yard Golf. Me and this girl ended up getting really drunk together but we got on so well and had a good laugh, it made the date really fun.
My worst date was at Albert Schloss with a girl I didn’t end up having a connection with at all. I like a girl with good banter and a little intelligence, but this girl just seemed to have air between her ears. It was filled with so many awkward silences and there was no conversation whatsoever.
Who is your Celebrity crush?
Margot Robbie, I’m a sucker for blonde hair and blue eyes.
Finally, what is the first thing you’re going to do once we are out of lockdown?
The first thing I’m going to do is go and see my two nephews. I have an amazing bond with my 11-year-old nephew, and I am really missing him.
