It was a decorous VIP launch from the Northern Quarter’s newest and most scandalous restaurant, Infamous Diner. With a pack of cheeky cheerleaders lining the streets and a plane circling overhead, the diner was certainly living up to its name by causing a stir in the city.

Rolling up in vampy vintage Chevrolets, bosses revved up to the retro-themed American diner, before a host of celebrity #moversnshakers made their way to the scene.

Coronation Street stars, Catherine Tyldsley and Katie McGlynn rocked up in fabulously themed attire, both donning 50s prints and silhouettes, along with co-star Brooke Vincent, who arrived in an effortlessly chic denim shirt and leatherette skirt. Singer songwriter Carolynne Poole also made her way to the event, sporting a sexy off the shoulder top and cropped pedal pushers.

Inside, there was music from the Northernettes; three gorgeous brunettes retrofitting swinging songs with soulful vibes, and later a tribute Elvis impersonator to shake things up. With retro cool interiors inspired by 1950s America, Infamous Diner treated guests to an array of tempting cocktails and canapés too good to turn down, including cinnamon waffles, peanut butter and jello toasted sandwiches with banana, curly fries, thick fries, hot dogs, mac and cheese, burgers, french toast… well, you get the picture.

Earlier in day, the restaurant had already caused quite a commotion, offering 300 free burgers to the people of Manchester. The hungry queue wrapped right around the block, and over 50 extra burgers were needed to ensure punters did not leave disappointed.

The restaurant is the latest venture by Mark Andrew Developments (Hula, Rosylee, The Fitzgerald, Walrus), and opens fully to the public Friday 24th July.
