Luxurious, Relaxing and Rejuvenating, Mottram Hall is All of This and MORE

The ultimate treat for those that love to sit back and relax during these winter months.

Mottram Hall, an old country home situated in the Cheshire countryside is a four star hotel and spa.

I ventured there for a day of relaxation and for a tranquil escape from my busy life in the city.

As the taxi pulled up to the hall, you could see how grand the grade II listed building was, surrounded by acres of grounds with a lovely water feature at the end of the drive.

At reception the staff were welcoming and friendly, even if they did ask me to settle the rest of my bill – my poor bank card!!

I was staying in the junior king suite, which was situated at the top of the stairs. There appeared to be no lift, so I would advise checking with the hotel first before booking if you have any mobility requirements.

The room was spacious with a king size bed in the centre of the room, and decorated to fit in with the luxurious decor.

There was a complementary mini fridge in the room, which for a wine lover like me was FABULOUS!

Although, I would advise you pack some earplugs as I soon found out the walls were very thin… and let’s just say I didn’t need an alarm the next day.

Check-out was quick and easy with our next destination being the spa. Make sure you’ve got your walking shoes, because it was an absolute trek from reception. By the time I got there I was ready for some relaxation.

I had booked a treatment slot prior to my stay as this was advised to avoid disappointment. On the day I decided to go for an ESPA back, face and scalp treatment.

Before my trip I was a spa virgin, so I didn’t know what to expect, but the masseuse was so friendly and told me exactly what she was going to do, which made me feel better.

She decided to go for a medium pressure and focused on my trouble spots, which were my upper back and shoulders.

After a good half-hour to forty minutes on my back, she then turned to start my face and scalp massage. I love it when people play with my hair so this was the ultimate treat.

Before I knew it my treatment was over and as I slowly brought myself round I was handed a glass of water. Apparently after a massage you can get a headache, which I found totally bizarre but trusted they knew what they were talking about and accepted my beverage.

I had then been booked in for a light lunch, which included soup, salad and cheese and crackers, which hit the spot.

After I had let my food settle I decided to check out the other spa facilities. These included:

Jacuzzi – This is a circular tub with warm water pushed out through jets. Very relaxing!

Mineral stone bath – Humidity and room temperature slowly rises, which is gentle on the cardiovascular system.

Brecehlbach – Releases herbal steam and with a copper ceiling it pushes the steam down the side of the walls to warm the body.

Steam room – Uses moist heat which detoxes the body.

Sauna – Uses dry heat which is good for muscle relaxation and lowering blood pressure.

And a lovely swimming pool, which was only 1.2 metres deep.

I stayed at the spa for about 5 hours, which for me was more than enough time to relax and chill out.

For my first ever spa experience Mottram Hall was top notch, it was luxurious, relaxing and rejuvenating.

The visit has definitely got me hooked and I look forward to spending more of my weekends re-charging my batteries by the pool.
