The New York Inspired Tavern In The Heart Of Manchester

Abi White | 19th December 2017

Situated around the corner from the Manchester Christmas markets lies the King Street Town House hotel. Known as the hotel with the awe-inspiring infinity pool with views over the heart of Manchester, it’s not only the infinity pool that is the highlight…

After recently undergoing a revamp, the King Street Town House Tavern, which is an add on to the hotel has taken on a whole new concept of a laid back New York style restaurant.

Marble tables make up the new fresh décor, along with authentic booths, book cases and lounge chairs, with the re-launch presents an all day dining experience inspired by the relaxed.

Along with the re-launch comes a few new additions to the menu. From the home comforts such as fish and chips, to the new sharing platters and pasta dishes, the menu leaves the diner spoilt for choice, whilst they nibble on the complimentary warm herby bread and butter.

To start, we ordered three small plates between two. There’s a broad selection and after studying the menu we opted for the spinach and potato, the honey glazed belly pork and the beetroot hummus served with warm pita bread.

Each small plate was bursting with it’s own individual flavour. Whilst the sweetness of the honey worked fantastically with the crackling on the belly pork, the spinach and potato were served in a curry-inspired marinade that was creamy and delicious.

The beetroot hummus was the highlight of our small plates as recommended by our waiter; it could be eaten by the spoonfuls!

For the mains, the mushroom tagliatelle was divine and there’s also the option to add chicken breast. It’s creamy and is just what you would expect if you were dining in an Italian restaurant. The lamb shank was also delightful with the meat falling off the bone. Served on a bed of mash and gravy this felt like a traditional hearty English dish.

To top the meal off, we opted for the desert-sharing platter. There’s a range of other deserts on the menu too that will also leave you spoilt for choice!

So if all that Christmas market shopping has left you with a bit of an appetite, head around to the King Street Town House Tavern and you won’t be disappointed.
