Oh No Don’t Say It’s True: The Bowie Experience
| 1st October 2016
Ziggy Lavelle reports…
7am Monday 18TH Jan 2016…. I heard the news to my utter disbelief!! I don’t ever skip work but I did that day. I sat alone & listened to Bowie all day & night.
I don’t do red puffy eyes & salted dry tear stained face but I did that day. Then I realised I was not crying for David Bowie but selfishly for my own fierce brave youth. So there I am in the Mancunian Masterpiece that is the Opera House & witnessed a full house dancing “smiling & waving & looking so fine” singing & dancing along with every word to the most brilliant Lawrence Knight (who I had witnesses before but not in such opulent surroundings) & his fantastic eight piece musical appreciation society of the man.
All the Ziggy Stardust’s, Major Tom’s, Thin White Dukes & Young Americans had a ball travelling through the forever changing personas that made Bowie the chameleon of rock. Knight & his musicians gave us the songs, the music, the costumes & the crazy for just one night allowing us to remember the greatest rock star of them all.
I am a regular at The Opera House but this was a truly special night from a special knight! We put on our red shoes & dances the blues & were four very happy queen bitches!
