Mancunians can celebrate Easter with limited edition Egg Dan Tart Ice Cream – now available exclusively at Harvey Nichols in Manchester.

Yee Kwan Ice Cream is an unique alternative to the classic chocolate or traditional egg item, made with rich and indulgent egg custard tarts including tasty pastry crumbs.

The 41-year-old mother-of-three was born in Sheffield with Chinese heritage. She worked as a chartered quantity surveyor for eight years before deciding to follow her passion for food, inspired by her travels in the Far East.

She successfully appeared on Dragon’s Den and is now mentored by business guru Deborah Meaden.

Also available in restaurants as a desert

Kwan’s ice creams and sorbets have been manufactured in Sheffield once 2009 and have been amongst the Great Taste Award Winners for six years running – and she has appeared on My Kitchen Rules UK with Michelin Star chef Pierre Koffmann.

It is also available in some of the UK’s most established restaurants and food markets. The ice-cream is now available on Ocado, Whole Foods, and offered as desserts in Wagamama, Patara, The Royal China, Shoryu Ramen and Wok n Go.

I picked up my free sample from Harvey Nichols and was extremely impressed by the original and rare flavour of the egg tart custard ice-cream. I would never have opted for such a classic and arguably, historical flavoured ice-cream, however I was pleasantly surprised.

The combination of a tangy egg tart base topped with a silky yellow ice-cream is divine. Despite my extreme sweet tooth, the subtle flavours worked a treat alongside the real pieces of egg custard tart. I would definitely recommend this as a vanilla alternative with an added kick.
