Choosing a holiday destination is always a tricky choice. You will want to find somewhere beautiful with enough to keep you entertained throughout the trip – this could be one of the many travel destinations anywhere in the world.

One of the best yet often overlooked destinations is Malta. This stunning archipelago in the central Mediterranean has something for everyone.

Here are just a few reasons why VIVA recommends why you should visit Malta on your next holiday…

Beautiful Scenery & Weather

It is an island of outstanding natural beauty and with a year-round sunny climate. It has alluring beaches, azure waters, a rocky coastline and plenty more nature to explore or alternatively you can simply chill on the beach, soak up the sun and take in the views.

Scuba Diving

If you want to be more active on your holiday then Malta is one of the best places in the entire world for scuba diving. This will give you a chance to see the extraordinary world beneath the surface in this beautiful part of the world.

Historic Sites

Malta has a fascinating history with a succession of rulers including the Romans, Moors, Knights of Saint John, French and British. Evidence of these rulers can be seen everywhere with the amazing architecture and historic sites which include megalithic temples, fortresses and burial chambers.

Valletta

Valleta is the capital city of Malta and an incredible place to explore. It is a walled city established in the 1500s that is filled with breathtaking palaces, grand churches and Baroque architecture. It is also a fun and lively place with markets, cafes, museums and plenty more to explore.

Food & Drink

Food and drink is, of course, a huge part of any holiday or travel destination. You can certainly indulge in Malta where there are many specialities to try and a lively restaurant and bar scene in the major towns at night which can be great fun and a good way to meet locals.

English Speaking

The Maltese do have their own language but you will find it easy to get by as English is spoken everywhere thanks to the fact that Malta was part of the British Empire until it gained independence in 1964.

Easy to Travel

Malta is also easy to get to – with a flight time of around 3 hours – and getting around is simple as it is such a small island.

You simply need to arrange a flight and pre-book Malta airport transfers to take you to your accommodation. You can then hire a car, use a bus, get a cab or walk if your accommodation is well located.

Malta is a beautiful, warm, friendly and fascinating part of the world with something for every type of visitor and it should be somewhere that everyone visits at least once.
