Manchester is buzzing with excitement as the food & drinks scene continues to evolve.
There’s six new food & drink offerings this week in Manchester, designed to cater for the most discerning foodie.
From new brunch platters, to luxury cocktail classes and new food & drink destinations opening their doors in Manchester.
To find out more about these stunners, read on.
Brunch breakfast at Zouk
Here at VIVA we love Zouk, Bez’s favourite Indian restaurant that never fails to deliver sumptuous meals, so we were delighted to try out their new sharing brunch platters.
You can choose from sweet, savoury or a mixed version, which is what we opted for at the vibey, beautiful eatery off Oxford Road. The first thing to say is that it is huge, made for four to share and it more than delivers, filling you up beautifully.
The second thing to say is that it’s delicious. A fusion of Indian and western fry up with tweaks such as turkey bacon (yummy) and non-pork sausages that are also a tasty treat. There’s wonderful curried eggs but also fried eggs and enough sweetness, well to delight the most sweet toothed, with pancakes, waffles and dips including chocolate and maple syrup.
There was also tons of fresh fruit to cut through the carbs and protein, all so yummy. To find out more and for bookings visit Zouk Tea Bar.
VIVA verdict: An absolute bargain and a wonderful way to spend a morning at just £45 for four or £25 for two.
Cocktails at Mount Street
The Midland has launched its first ever series of luxury, hands-on cocktail masterclasses with its very own award-winning mixologist, Angus McGregor.
The Grade II listed bar, which specialises in elegant but powerful rum and tequila-based cocktails, will be hosting the new masterclasses on selected Thursdays and Fridays from 6:30pm, starting from Thursday 30th May.
Mount Street Dining Room & Bar will offer two premium masterclass packages, including the Luxury Cocktail Masterclass and the Reserve Cocktail Masterclass. The Luxury Cocktail Masterclass will include either three cocktails over 90 minutes for £65 per person, or four cocktails over two hours for £75 per person.
For more information on the new cocktail masterclasses and to book a place, visit their website.
Flower Festival at Printworks
Manchester’s Printworks is guaranteeing a multisensory experience over the Bank Holiday weekend with a host of floral activities across the complex. OK not strictly food, but definitely a feast for the eyes.
From flower arranging workshops and fabulous giveaways to an interactive gaming experience in an oasis of flowers under nature-inspired visuals from the largest digital ceiling in Europe, there’s so many activities ready to capture the imaginations of guests. Find out more by visiting their website.
Manchester-based House of Rum is the new boutique bottler for people who just love great rum
Born and bred in Manchester, the brand specialises in exclusive single-vintage, single-cask, cask-strength Rums.
It is House of Rum founder David Howarth’s lifelong passion for Rum, a simple pleasure that remains the core of the business today.
“I’m not a Master Blender or Craftsman, I’m just a guy who really loves Rum. I’ve spent the last three decades accumulating Rum experiences, from different styles, geographical locations, and producers, and learning how these differences translate into each liquid. This is what I wanted to share through House of Rum; great, single-cask, cask-strength Rum with nothing added. No sugar for sweetness, no caramel for colour and no other additives or flavours, so you can really taste its personality and origins,” he told VIVA.
You can buy it on the House of Rum website or Master of Malt.
New summer menu at Roby
Award-winning canalside bar and eatery Roby 1844 has officially reopened with a bang, with a brand-new menu, new opening hours and a host of events set to make it the place to be this summer.
Situated next to The Holiday Inn on Aytoun Street and featuring two floors of waterside al fresco seating and an outdoor bar, Roby 1844 is now open daily, with a delicious new menu of small plates, burgers, salads, and pizzas, alongside a selection of cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks.
New bar in Stockport.
This sounds interesting – literally as the new Ōdiobā Hi-Fi listening bar and coffee shop opens Its doors to add to Stockport’s burgeoning food and drink scene.
The new gem nestled in the Underbanks is described as the go-to destination for music lovers and is open Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10am – 12am and Friday and Saturday 10am – 2am.
