Sporting champions back campaign to keep Greater Manchester moving
Sporting champions including Stacey Copeland, Diane Modahl MBE and Sam Freeman are calling on Mancunians to keep moving during lockdown with the launch of a new campaign #KeepGMMoving.
It follows a survey by YouGov which found that more than a third of Mancs (36%) admitted they have been less physically active since March 23, when lockdown started. Nearly half (43%) also said they are watching more TV with over a third (35%) adding they are now walking less.
The new campaign includes four films with fun tips featuring a typical Mancunian family.
Hayley Lever, GreaterSport CEOsaid: “The four films demonstrate different ways people of all ages and abilities can get active in a way that suits them. We hope the films and blog posts will help #KeepGMMoving and answer the question of how adults can get their 30 minutes of daily movement in, and how kids can get their 60 minutes each day.”
Each film focuses on different needs from families trying to find interesting ways to keep their kids moving to those with no gardens, home-workers and people with limited mobility.
They showcase creative ways to get moving with limited equipment and space, with ideas including ‘rave in the shower’ and ‘sock rounders in the kitchen’.
The sporting stars are throwing their support behind the campaign through social media and have made special clips to motivate us all to move.
