SS16 Hair Trends

With each new season comes new trends. Have a look at this years hair trends and get yourself to the hairdresser for the perfect look this Spring/Summer.

Long Fringes

Long sweeping fringes are a great way to change your style. It’s perfect for long-haired ladies who don’t want to lose their length but still change it up for 2016. Super easy to manage and grow out again. Try a loose, chopped fringe that skims those full brows this Spring. It is good to experiment. By getting a fringe cut in, you are trying something new without drastic change. Plus, it’s all the rage right now!

Angled Bob

Ditch those layers that we’ve all come to love over the past years and frame your face with a stick-straight bob. It is sharp and angular – the perfect haircut for a woman who knows what she wants.

The High Pony

Pull your hair tight and create a sky high ponytail, highlighting your beautiful cheekbones and jawline. Put some volume into the end of the ponytail to create definition.

Sleek Bun

Designers such as Philip Lim and Givenchy have been showcasing ballerina style sleek buns with their spring/summer 2016 collections.  Play around with the position of the bun to add a different feel to your overall look! Twist your hair into a texturised, low bun for the perfect rushed up-do. Simple, yet sophisticated: it takes no time at all once you perfect the routine.

Celebrity spot: Gwyneth Paltrow

Colour Trends

Contouring –This is guaranteed to be one of the hottest new techniques this year. A cool twist on last year’s balayage. It gives a multidimensional effect allowing multiple colours to melt together and produce a more natural look, highlighting the face shape and skin tone perfectly.

Celebrity spot: Gigi Hadid and Jessica Alba

The Flipped Crop

Too scared to cut you hair pixie-style? Fake the cut with a tight up do and short layers. Flip the hair over and create a swept away look that will have all your friends guessing.

Slick Sweepback

Greasy hair is so this season. Tuck your straight strands behind both ears and gel it down for a smooth, sleek finish.

Dusty Pastels

Pastel shades are sticking around with more easy to maintain dusty colours that that are styled to perfection.  Remember colour equals care, which means weekly hair masks specifically for colour treated hair are advisable to keep colour for longer.

Celebrity spot: Kylie Jenner

Bridal

The bohemian trend is still running through 2016 – think romantic waves, small braids and a scattering of wild flowers for a relaxed, carefree look. At the opposite end of the spectrum, super neat ballerina style buns are big for this year for the bride who wants something a little more polished.

Top Bridal Tips – Always choose your dress first! Everything will fall into place around the style of the dress you pick.  If the dress is overly detailed and embellished go with a simple hair style to emphasis the dress.  If it’s a simple dress you can go adventurous with the hair! Booking a trial is very important.  This is when you build a relationship with your stylist and put forward all your ideas and thought’s.  It’s always best to feel relaxed and in control on the big day.

Accessories

The SS16 runways were full of hair accessories, from velvet bows at Chanel to wrap around hair ties at Reed Krakoff. Be inspired by the designers and distract from your messy I’ve-been-out-all-night hair with 20th century style jewels and simple gold rings. It’s all very Great Gatsby-esque.

Texture

Texture is everything this season – it can transform your hair from your everyday style. Choose to have a shaggy mop or loose waves dependent on your mood.
