That’s the spirit! Aldi launches its first ever spirits festival

This August, the retailer is launching a whopping 11 new spirits as part of its first ever Spirits Festival range, including the hottest spirits of the moment – tequila and mezcal, as well as a selection of ultra-Instagrammable gins and rums starting from just £9.99.
Mexican spirits are becoming increasingly popular, with statistics revealing that tequila is the second-fastest growing spirits category after gin.
The rise of cocktail culture means that people are becoming more adventurous with their spirit choices, accounting for the growth of mezcal which is often favoured due to the variety of flavours available.
Shoppers can now try the trend for themselves, by livening up their cocktail cupboards with the sweet and spicy Tequila Villa Lobos 100% Agave Reposado (£29.99) and the smoky, aromatic Mezcal Eterno Joven (£34.99) – the first spirit of its kind to hit Aldi.
Launching on the 22nd of August, perfectly timed to get shoppers in the bank holiday spirit, Aldi’s new range also includes flavour-packed rums, gins and delicious pre-mixed cocktails that will look great on the Instagram grid – including the must-have shimmering Infusionist Mystical Unicorn Gin Liqueur for only £9.99.
Tequila and Mezcal
Tequila Villa Lobos 100% Agave Reposado (£29.99 – online only)
Sweet, fruity and slightly spicy, the Tequila Villa Lobos is a handcrafted spirit made with mellow agave from Los Altos. Made with traditional Mexican techniques, this tequila has a balanced and elegant structure and is best served neat over ice with a refreshing slice of grapefruit.
