For those of you whom remember the days of ’99, you may remember the rise of Craig David, a young artist, who appeared in the charts for the first time at just the age of 17 and went on to spend the remainder of his youth under the close watch of the public eye.

It was in 2000 when David released his debut album, ‘Born To Do It’, an R&B and soul album, backed by electronic, garage and pop themes, which was cast highly in MTV’s official list of ‘Greatest Albums Ever’.

He soon followed with a further four successful albums; ‘Sicker Than Your Average’(2002), ‘The Story Goes…’(2005), ‘Trust Me’(2007) and ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’(2010).

At age 32 and six years after the release of ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’, Craig David is now determined to make a comeback to the charts.

After his recent performance at Bestival (read about Bestival ’15 here) in September, David has collaborated with Grime DJ ‘Big Narstie’ for his most recent single ‘When the Bassline Drops’ (released in November and reaching 3rd place in the UK Dance charts, as well as coming in 21st in the UK Download charts), which will be featured on his 2016 album.

Having been nominated for more than eleven Brit awards and two Grammys, fans of the Garage and Grime scenes have given David the spotlight for his upcoming 2016 album, entitled ‘Following My Intuition’ which currently holds a lot of expectation.

Also helping boost his potentially high album sales and generate an overall buzz, Craig David has taken to BBC’s Live Lounge, where he has been recorded covering a few chart hits of 2015, with his cover of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ gaining the most media coverage and success, having reached all corners of social media and gathering an astounding 1,210,825 views on YouTube.

It is definitely safe to say that Craig David knows how to get the public’s attention, as we at VIVA most certainly cannot wait to see what else he has under his belt for the upcoming year.
