Top 5 summer must haves that actually work: Hello June, it’s been a while, but the sun is finally shining upon us and summer is here!
I cannot tell you all how much I have missed the glorious summer weather. With holidays not looking too promising this year, after the fallout from COVID, a good dose of vitamin D has been long overdue for us all.
Summer is most definitely my favourite season of them all. The suntan, the beautiful countryside, the beer gardens, my list could go on. In the spirit of good weather and it finally feeling like summer is here, VIVA has compiled a list of our top 5 summer must haves.
First off, let’s talk about that tan. I always check the UV rays on a sunny day, so I can prepare for optimal tanning. I use the Omni calculator to find out what factor of SPF I need based on my skin type, and how long I can stay outdoors. This method works wonders for me, and ensures I have a glowing natural tan, without burning. Which brings us nicely onto my first must have.
1.Australian Gold Bronzing Intensifier Dry Oil Spray (£14)
I use this alongside sunscreen to enhance my tan. It smells incredible – just like being on holiday and gives my skin a deep, rich tan. I used this over the weekend and over the space of 2 days I’ve already developed a great colour, long may it continue.
When it comes to fashion, my favourite piece of jewellery right now is my Abbott Lyon signature name necklace.

I love gold jewellery in the summer as I find that it compliments a tan so well. This necklace can be dressed up or down, for any occasion. I find myself wearing it all summer long.
Although I am a little sunshine baby, the warm weather definitely has an impact on my hair. I struggle with dry hair in the summer months so as soon as the temperature outside heats up, I always make sure to place an order with HASK.
3. HASK Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner
I use their Argan oil range as it not only repairs and protects but it keeps my hair nice and hydrated too. You can find HASK in Boots, Superdrug and most supermarkets.
It’s not just my hair that suffers in the warm weather, but it certainly affects my skin too. Whilst it’s of the upmost importance to always wear an SPF in the sun (many dermatologists suggest wearing SPF all year round, but I have to admit I’m very guilty of not doing this) it’s also equally important to keep your skin hydrated.
For me, I found a great brand called Angela Langford. Her skincare range is entirely organic and made from natural essential oils.
4. Angela Langford Balanced & Beautiful Face Oil (£20.50)
I use the balanced and beautiful face oil every morning. It’s made specifically for combination skin (like mine) and it hydrates without leaving a slippery oily residue. It smells fantastic too!
5. Illume Silk Exfoliating Glove (£15.99)
This glove works absolute wonders. It removes even the most stubborn fake tan after a few gentle circular motions. As my skin inevitably dries in the summer months, especially around my legs, I’ve been using the Illume silk glove to help remove the dead skin cells and get rid of the scaly cracked skin that often appears as a result.
