VIVA joins The Fizz Club social with the best food and wine matching of all time: Champagne with fish and chips…

The Fizz Club invited VIVA down to Randall & Aubin for a champagne tasting dinner with fish and chips – can you think of a tastier duo?

The leading seafood restaurant Randall & Aubin played host to Jack Chaput from Champagne Jacques Chaput, along with Neil Dixon from Espritde Champagne who won the ‘Best Champagne‘ award at The Fizz Festival in Harrogate and Altrincham in 2017.

The talented pair explained how their different champagnes were made, whilst the fizz lovers got to sit back and give each glass of bubbly a try. It was remarkable to listen to Jack and Neil as they explained the process, whilst actually trying it. All of the bubbly beverages were rich and complex – no wonder they’re so in demand!

Alongside the champagne, guests were also given a two-course meal cooked up by the exquisitely talented Randall & Aubin chefs. It was the fish and chips of dreams – thick cut chips underneath succulent, fresh fish. The fish was tender and insanely tasty, right up to the last bite. They had even created a high-end tasting mushy pea mix, it was genuinely a 10/10 from VIVA.

To finish we were given a fresh strawberry desert. It was a light bite that complimented the champagne beautifully. It also wasn’t too heavy after the generous fish and chip portion.

Overall The Fizz Club had created a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, filled with excellent champagne and food. The talks from the champagne makers gave it that even more memorable twist – it’s certainly not an experience you get to do every day.

The membership club was set up by Fizz Festival organizers to provide more bijou tasting events where fizz fans can learn about every type of bubbly from around the world, including Champagne, Cava, Prosecco and English Sparkling wine.
