VIVA’s Top 10 Festival Picks of 2017

With thousands of festivals being announced over the summer period, it can be quite overwhelming to discover which festival is right for you to visit this year. Well look no further, as VIVA Magazine has compiled their Top 10 festival picks that will surely satisfy your festival needs!

 

Creamfields

Where: Daresbury, Cheshire

When: Thursday 24th– Sunday 27th August 2017

Ticket price: £85-£330

The perfect festival for all dance music lovers, Creamfields celebrates it’s 20th birthday this year, which sees around 70,000 visitors descend on the Cheshire countryside.

The cheapest ticket is a standard day ticket at £85, and the most expensive ticket pricing at £330 for a four day gold camping ticket.

With headliners of The Chainsmokers, Deadmau5 & Eric Prydz, Armin Van Buren and Jamie Jones, it sets to be a huge year for the iconic dance music event.

 

We Are FSTVL

 

Where: Upminster, Essex

When: Friday 26th– Sunday 28th May 2017

Ticket price: £59.50- £199

 

After a sell-out event in 2016, We Are FSTVL is returning with camping access this year, making the festival bigger and better than ever. The campsite is also is expected to include a glitter palace, pamper parlour, giant pillow fight, inflatable church events and a “tall ball pool”.

Not only is the festival now host to camping access, but also boasts a fantastic line-up for a festival of it’s size.

50,000 fans are anticipated to flock to the dance music festival in May, where artist’s Craig David, Carl Cox, Dizzee Rascal, Giggs, Wiley and Basement Jaxx are all headlining.

Wireless

 

Where: Finsbury Park, London

When: Friday 7th– Sunday 9th July 2017

Ticket price: £60-£160

 

With The Weeknd, Chance the Rapper and Skepta announced as headliners for Wireless festival this year, the festival is sure to bring the party to Finsbury Park.

Although camping is not available, the festival provides accommodation packages and also offers coach travel if you are travelling from a distance.

Day tickets and weekend tickets are all available over the weekend of the festival.

 

Parklife

 

Where: Heaton Park, Manchester

When: Saturday 10th– Sunday 11th June 2017

Ticket price: £59.50- £96.50

 

Parklife returns to Heaton Park in June, with a star-studded line up that never ceases to amaze every year.

Although there is no camping available for the festival, Manchester’s very own, The 1975, will be headlining on the Saturday, and a rare performance from Frank Ocean will take place on the Sunday.

This festival is surely not one to be missed, and is a steal at £96.50 for a weekend ticket.

 

Boomtown Fair

Where: Winchester, England

When: 10th-13th August 2017

Ticket price: £155-£195

 

With the likes of M.I.A, The Specials and Frank Turner headlining the festival, Boomtown is one of the UK’s most innovative independent festivals, leading the way in terms of set design and production values.

Host to 60,000 attendees, it is a festival experience unlike any other.  From the mind-blowing stages to the intimate street venues, Boomtown offers over 120 music venues to discover a soundtrack of a vast spectrum of musical genres.

 

TRSMT

 

Where: Glasgow, Scotland
When: 7th-9th July 2017

Ticket price: £59.50- £155

With T in the Park taking a break this year, the replacement festival, TRNSMT festival takes over Glasgow Green for three days in July, bringing an exceptional line up for Scotland’s newest festival.

The festival is the first of it’s kind to be held in Glasgow centre, but will be a non-camping event.

The festival will feature performances from Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro as headliners, with artists such as The 1975, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Twin Atlantic, London Grammar, Two Door Cinema Club, The Kooks and Blossoms (to name a few!) performing at the festival.

 

Reading and Leeds Festival

Where: Reading and Leeds

When: Thursday 24th– Sunday 27th August 2017

Ticket price: £65-£213

 

 

One of the biggest music festivals around, Reading and Leeds didn’t fail to impress with this years line up. Announcing Emininem, Kasabian and Muse as it’s headliners, the festival still offers a variety of genres for everyone.

Alongside the headliners, acts such as Flume, Charli XCX, Giggs and High Contrast feature on the bill, so punters will never be short of a genre or artist to watch.

Tickets start at £65 for a day ticket and range to £213 for the full weekend. (Thursday- Sunday) For those ‘hard core’ festival-goers, visitors can also purchase an early-bird pass, which entitles them early entry to the festival to bag the best camping spots and start the party early.

 

V Festival

 

Where: Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Birmingham

When: 18th– 20th August 2017

Ticket price: £89- £303

With tickets starting at £89 for a day pass, weekend tickets with camping pricing at £189, there’s also the option to treat yourself to a VIP pass at the festival for £303 with exclusive perks.

This year’s line up features acts such as P!nk and Jay Z as headliners, and many other chart artists featuring on the line-up, this one isn’t one to miss if your always up-to –date with the latest music.

Bestival

Where: Lulworth Estate, Dorset

When: 7th-10th September 2017

Ticket price: £170

 

Held in an enchanted wood on the Dorset Coast, Bestival was founded by Rob de Bank, who had a dream to create his vision of the modern-day festival. Alongside Creative Director and his wife, Josie da Bank and co-founders, John and Ziggy , they aim to change the face of independent festival culture, spreading the love worldwide.

Whilst Rob ensures the festival has a brilliant line up, with the acts this year featuring the likes of The XX, Blossoms, Pet Shop Boys and Andy C, Josie waves her creative wand over the festival. From the brilliant boutique campsite experience to the Bollywood tent, it’s the uniqueness of the creativity that aims to inspire peace, love and dancing that puts the icing on the cake on top of the exciting line-up for this year’s Bestival.

 

Hideout

 

Where: Zrce, Croatia

When: 26th-30th June 2017

Ticket Price: £139

If you don’t quite fancy risking your luck with the British festival weather, then Hideout is one for you if you’re into your dance music. Set on Zcre beach in Croatia, you surely won’t need your wellies for this one!

With a star-studded line up this year, Croatia will be host to artists such as Major Lazer, Stormzy, Diplo, Disciples, David Rodigan, T.Q.D, and loads more, with some acts still to be announced.
