VIVA’s Top Overseas Festivals 2017

With festival season fast approaching, many of you will be wondering whether you will be needing a new pair of wellies before you brave the muddy, English fields this year. Well VIVA want to give you an alternative- ditch the wellies for sandals and muddy fields for beaches because here is our pick of the Top Overseas Festivals you could be at this Summer!

Pukklepop

Where: Near the city of Hasselt, Belgium

When: Wednesday 16th-Saturday 19th August 2017

A complete alternative vision mixing music, art and live culture all set outdoors in a field in Belgium! This festival has been running since 1985 has fast become one of Europe’s greatest music events, with a wide variety of acts and genres on offer from rock to pop to house and metal to fill any musical needs!

Headliners include Mumford and Sons, The XX, The Editors and Bastille as well as acts such as UK Grime artist Stormzy, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Ryan Adams and techno ‘hero’ Richie Hawtin! This is a festival for all music lovers who enjoy a bit of everything!

Mysteryland

Where: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Located in  Haarlemmermeer, The Netherlands, just moments from the beautiful city of Amsterdam, 200 DJ’s and live acts from across the world will be performing across the weekend!

Expecting a whopping 100,000 visitors this year, electronic
dance music fans will be pleased to know that some of their favourite event hosts have partnered up with Mysterland such as Elrow, Cocoon, Paradise, Spinnin Sessions and Hospital Records.

Headliners include Above and Beyond, Axwell ^ Ingrosso, Alesso, Armin Van Buuren,  Brennan Heart, Carl Cox, Craig David presents TS5, Deadmau5, Sven Vath and Wildstylez.

OFF Festival

If you fancy something a bit more alternative then OFF Festival is the one for you!

With legendary singer-songwriters from across the pond meeting rising stars from across the channel, this festival aims to bring the UK and the US music scene back together in a beautiful green oasis in the heart of industrial Silesia.

Headliners include folk/country/ rock singer Conor Oberst, Arab Strap, Thee Oh Sees, Sheer Mag, Ulrika Spacek, Anna Meridith and LVL UP.

Benicàssim

When: 13th- 16th July 2017

With a reputation of one of the best on the international festival circuit- Benicàssim is a must for any pop, rock and electronica fans who fancy partying to their favourite music acts in the Spanish sun!

Ticket and camping packages are available with instalment plan options so you dont have to spend all your hard earned cash straight away!

Headliners include Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Weeknd, Kasabian, Foals, Las Planetas and Deadmau5.

Sonus

Where: Zcre Beach, Pag Island, Croatia

Celebrating 5 years of Sonus Festival this year, this festival is for all your underground, electronic music needs!

Partying for five nights and five days, this festival is set on a beautiful Croatian beach, across three venues, with a line up that will be sure to impress!

Acts include the likes of Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Richy Ahmed, Loco Dice and The Martinez Brothers.

Sziget

One of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe, Sziget offers not only a massive range of music genres, but also a whole range of activities to take part in over the week!

This year will be the 25th year running for the festival, which began in 1933 as a fairly low key student festival and now see’s over 1,000 performances over the duration.

Headliners include Kasabian, Major Lazer, Pink, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike and Pink!

Roskilde

Denmark’s first music orientated festival created for hippies!

If you are in touch with your carefree side and fancy a selection of reggae, hip hop, world, electric, pop and rock music then this could be the one for you (it even has an annual naked run!).

Acts headlining- Foo Fighters, A Tribe Called Quest, Arcade Fire, Justice, Moderat/Modeselektor, Solange, Trentemoller and The Weeknd.

ULTRA Europe

Part of Ultra Music Festival’s worldwide expansion, ULTRA Europe is now one of twenty destinations for the electronic music festival which has recently become part of Destination Ultra to offer a seven day experience including an opening party, a three day festival, yacht regatta, Ultra Beach and a closing party!

Boasting some of the top EDM DJ’s, line up this year is still to TBC.

 

Oasis Festival

Want to escape Europe this Summer for a few days of relaxation and good music? Look no further than Oasis Festival, located in The Source Music Resort, just outside the hustle and bustle of central Marrakech!

This festival boasts incredible food, culture, art and music in the heart of North Africa.

Bilbao BBK Live
