Wedding stationery trends for 2019

Christie Hutchinson | 9th March 2019

Choosing your wedding stationery is likely to be one of the most important parts of planning your wedding. Your invites are the first glimpse you reveal to family and friends of the theme and style of your big day, they communicate all the key information and many will be kept as keepsakes by loved ones.

So you’ll want to make sure you choose wisely, from the initial ‘save the date’, to ‘will you be my bridesmaid’, table plans and thank you cards. There’s so much to think about!

Ahead of The National Wedding Show in Manchester next week, we talk to wedding stationery expert, Amanda Williams, from Love Invited about the top trends for 2019.

Colourful Creations

Pantone named ‘Living Coral’ as its colour of 2019, and you’ll see this trend everywhere from interior details, to fashion, lifestyle and of course, wedding stationery.  This vibrant colour is perfect to create a bold, striking look and works particularly well with foil – for something extra special. Copper foil is also another big trend for 2019.

It’s in the Details

Illustrated details and handwritten-style fonts are a perfect way to add a little more personalisation to your wedding stationery.  You can incorporate a little or a lot of this trend. From a simple font illustration, to going all out with an illustration of your venue taking centre stage – a la Pippa Middleton’s classy order of service, which was drawn by her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Destination

The Travel trend is still very popular, with lots of couples opting to tie the knot in Europe and far-flung destinations worldwide. This style also suits couples that love to travel. You can choose to incorporate the more traditional passport and boarding pass styles, to maps and even items local to a country, such as flowers.  This style can easily be mixed with other trends such as illustrations and foiling to make them unique.

Geometric

Intricate and stunningly beautiful, geometric patterns have been around for centuries and are a hot trend for 2019. The scope with geometry design is huge and couples can easily create very personal and stunning design with different geometric shapes and pattern. Again this trend can be fully customisable and mixed with other trends such as bold colour and foiling.

Watercolour

Another big trend is the watercolour style, which creates a dreamy and visually stunning piece of stationery that photograph very well for those Instagram posts! This year though we’ll see more of an introduction of darker and richer colours, used with foils to produce soft, but striking designs.
