With us all being huge food fans here at VIVA we were thrilled to get a sneak peak at Mark Andrew Developments’ (MAD’s) new glitzy 1950’s inspired ‘All American’ retro diner, Infamous. The family fun diner will be debuting with a special launch party for the press tomorrow night, with Coronation Street stars Brooke Vincent, Katie McGlynn and Catherine Tyldesley joining the list of VIP guests, who will be treated to entertainment from Elvis and Buddy Holly impersonators and a special performance from Infamous cheerleaders, the Norternettes. The Norternettes will also be performing again on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, members of the public won’t miss out, as Infamous generously give out 300 free burgers and bags of popcorn on a first come first serve basis from tomorrow at noon.

Situated perfectly near Manchester Victoria train station and Shudehill bus station, Infamous immediately dazzles with classic American Diner flashing lights in the window, framed by it’s vivid post box red exterior.

Inside, our eyes were enthralled by the vibrant aura given off by decor that channeled all things USA, with the diner boasting an iconic jukebox, which customers can choose to play whatever 50’s song takes their fancy, raspberry pink booths, silver ceilings and LA neon lights, emulating settings from films like Back to the Future and Hairspray.

Open from 7am until late, seven days a week (9am on Sunday) in line with true diner spirit, there’s also free refills on filter coffee, and authentic American breakfast. With a capacity of eighty, Infamous’ menu promises to enchant everyone’s taste-buds, with tasty mini burgers, dogs, mac n’ cheese, toasted sandwiches and delicious marinara meatballs, freshly made each day on site, to suit every palette. To impress each customers’ sweet tooth, gorgeous pancakes smothered in maple syrup and mouthwatering New York cheesecakes, donuts and ice creams are guaranteed to spellbind your tongues.

The bar was stocked with jars brimming with colourful jars of sweets ready to accompany milkshake and ice cream, whilst other shelves were decked with an array of wines, beers and ciders. The real gem though, is the abundance of cocktails on offer,  including the newly created Infamous Invents list, featuring Coconut & Lychee Margarita, Californian Caiprinha and Palm Springs, starting from £6. American Bourbon classics including the Maple Manhattan and Salted Caramel Old Fashioned will also be available.

Though the whole place radiates an authentic 1950’s vibe, with staff donning 1950’s style dress and screens showing American sports, orders will be taken via i-Pads, adding efficiency to the diner’s smiley service.

Prices are as tempting as the dishes, with loyal customers being rewarded for buying any main meal six times with a collectible pin page or a free main when they purchase eight meals.

Managing Director, Mark Andrew said:  “Manchester thinks it has had American diners before but there has been nothing like the Infamous Diner. The name sums it up. It will be Infamous and we can’t wait to open the doors on a new experience for Mancunians.”

Wanting to appeal to a mass audience, Marketing Manager Victoria Holmes added: “It’s going to be a lot of fun, it’s going to be the whole diner experience, the food is amazing and it’s something a little bit different that Northern Quarter doesn’t have yet, or in fact Manchester. It’s all about the vibe and just creating that really cool atmosphere for people to come on down and enjoy the food.”

Infamous Diner is open to the public as normal on Friday.
