Why The Midland Hotel Spa is the best place for Valentine’s Day

Whether you’re single, taken or it’s complicated…Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be the most painful and overrated day of the year that everybody predicts.  At The Midland Hotel Spa, it was actually far from it, and alongside with my BFF, it was certainly ‘I don’t need a man’ kinda day.

Stepping into the luxurious reception room the first thing that woke my senses was the energising aromatic reed diffuser that filled my nostrils and cleared my head.  Along with the soothing music, I almost forgot my name before I reached the counter, blurting my details in a gibberish sentence.

When I finally got to my senses, the beauticians showed me to our changing room, with our lockers already filled with the essentials one needs for a spa day, a soft robe, luxury slippers and a cotton soft towel. Once changed into our swimming costumes, we headed to the pool, where we eagerly slipped off our robes and slippers and slid into the warm and calming pool that lifted my spirits.

Once our fingers turned to raisins and the bubbling hot tub came to an end, we headed to the salt-infused steam room where my thoughts quickly turned to mush as I breathed in the salty hot air that sent me into a peaceful slumber. Once I regained myself, we headed to the sauna room with the Himalayan salt wall, where the dry hot air made me feel stress-free and clear-headed.

After the sauna, we dried ourselves and made way to the Relaxation Room, where it did not disappoint. Tent-like pods filled with cushions hung from the ceiling, beds neatly made with plumped pillows, two secluded sofa rooms, and swinging dark circular pods created for a private getaway, together with the dark ambience and the blissful music made for a soothing and tranquil experience.

Once 11:30 am rolled around it was time for our treatments, we had a back and face ritual where the masseuse carefully worked away my tight knots and achy muscles, we also had a scalp massage that made me feel hypnotized from the relaxation. The ESPA body oils they used, made my whole-body and scalp tingle with leisure.

After our treatments, they sent us back to the relaxation room where we were told to lay down and relax for at least 20 minutes while the oils worked their magic.  When 1:30 pm struck, we left for the café to enjoy our afternoon tea, with various sandwiches, cakes and truffles, and scones, oh and a glass of well-deserved champagne…

If you want a Valentine’s day that won’t disappoint then head over to The Spa at Midland Hotel and book your well-needed getaway with their double up package!
