Abi White | 16th March 2018

March has marked an end of an era for Northern night life. Announcing its permanent closure on the 17th March, Manchester’s renowned Antwerp Mansion will be shut permanently. Nevertheless, Worried about Henry and Mantra hosted their final ‘good bye party’ and as usual, it was a night to remember.

Gracing one of the biggest DJ’s to ever step foot in the Mansion, drum and bass kingpin Wilkinson laid down an hour masterclass of the Genre. With his smash hit ‘Afterglow’ and ‘take you higher’ under his belt, his set was a high octane showcase of Antwerp’s most popular genre. From songs, you knew to unreleased exclusives, Wilkinson gave his best in what was the final Drum and Bass set to take place in the Mansion.

With support from best selling hospitality producers Metrik & S.P.Y the line-up could not have been any better. From liquid to rollers both artists found there pace as the crowd bounced around to every tune they played. A remarkable sense of solidarity was shown in the final few songs between the crowd, artists and venue.

As the music drew to a close Worried about Henry had finally achieved its ultimate ‘good bye party’ A genre which has found home amongst the Mansions four walls since its opening it will be deeply missed by all.

A protest against the clubs closure will be taking place at Albert Square in front of the town hall on Friday the 16th at 4pm. This will be a great chance to express your concern to the destructions of Manchester’s club culture.
