Travel enthusiasts are fighting for the chance to be one of the first aboard a new luxury cruise ship – by finding microscopic codes hidden in five incredibly detailed ‘gigapixel’ photographs.

Eagle-eyed travellers must locate codes hidden within photos of five iconic European cities including Amsterdam, Berlin and Bruges.

The high definition gigapixel images are made up of 500 individually taken photos, meaning the cityscapes can be explored by zooming in with incredible precision.

Concealed in each of the images is Celebrity Cruises’ X-shaped logo containing a unique code.

But with each image containing more than four billion pixels, the hunt could take days, or even weeks.

Anyone able to crack the puzzle, at Celebrity Cruises and find all five codes will enter into a draw to win a luxury cruise on board Celebrity Apex when she launches in March next year.

Only once all five have been correctly inputted into the specially designed entry form, will users be able to submit their entry into the competition.

The striking gigapixel images were taken by photographer, Will Pearson, and depict breathtaking views across Bruges, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen and Oslo.

After scouring the photographs to find the hidden codes, the lucky winner will get to discover these iconic cities for themselves as part of Celebrity Apex’s inaugural 10-night Northern Europe Capital Cities sailing.

Departing from Southampton on April 13, the ship’s itinerary will take guests to all five cities pictured.

Will Pearson said: “This was an incredible project to work on.

“Each of these iconic cities has a unique feel – if you were set down blindfolded in Bruges or Copenhagen, you’d know instantly where you were when the blindfold was removed.

“Travelling by train between locations to limit environmental impact allowed me to meet many travellers along the way.

“And it was heart-warming how helpful people were, and how keen they were to highlight just what made their city stand out as an amazing place to visit.”
