On Friday night, Wolf Alice filled the Albert Hall with powerful hits and an adoring crowd. My Love is Cool is the band’s debut album. It’s a stunning masterpiece featuring twelve impeccable tracks which perfectly showcase the bands massive talent. Each track on the album is easily distinguishable from the next, emphasising the bands diverse and timeless ability. They’re about to embark on a US tour and their UK tour to date has had flawless reviews.

The North London four-piece consists of Ellie Rowsell (guitar/vocals), Theo Ellis (bass), Joff Oddie (guitars) and Joel Amey (drums/vocals). It’s hard to pinpoint their sound, they’re an amalgamation of different genres with elements of rock, grunge and punk weaved throughout their work. Likening them to a number of existing alternative rock bands wouldn’t do them justice. Listen to Wolf Alice if you want something original with meaning, rocking attitude and A LOT of guitar.

Their tunes tell real-life tales and lead singer Ellie delivers them in a confident, powerful way. Her voice fluctuates from girlie to roaring. She’s a truly impressive and confident front woman – Friday’s crowd couldn’t take their eyes off her. Ellie sticks two fingers up to the still very much male dominated music industry. Her beauty is secondary to her amazing attitude and awe inspiring vocal range.

The Albert Hall is quite easily the most aesthetically pleasing gig venue in Manchester. Selling it out is a respectable feat, representative of the band’s growing success. The band’s stage presence and their glittering backdrop created a magical and almost gothic scene. Mona Lisa Smile sent the crowd into a frenzy. The venue came alive with mosh pits and hysteria as the 2000 strong crowd echoed the lyrics to signature tracks like Fluffy and You’re a Germ.

Wolf Alice attracted a gathering which spanned a few generations, they have something which fans of all ages can connect to. The deafening crowd confirmed the band’s huge victory to date. There’s no doubt their already loyal fan base is set to expand continually as the band grow into their deserving success.
