Bag a bargain! Pre-loved fashion experts Luxe Collective say second-hand gifting is on the rise

Christmas. Is. Coming. And although buyer behaviour among British shoppers is expected to be different this year when it comes to purchasing presents for others, there are plenty of preloved gift ideas and fashionable items with beautiful stories that are just waiting for a new chapter.
You could even ‘bag a bargain’ with added vintage style, whether that’s a one-of-a-kind designer handbag or threads from Luxe Collective’s pick of the best preloved fashion items for Christmas.
According to data published in consumer studies by charities like Oxfam and the British Heart Foundation, UK shoppers are choosing to buy more second-hand and meaningful gifts for friends and family this year.
Supplementary research conducted by One Poll reveals that six in ten opt to find second-hand presents on an online marketplace while 45–54-year-olds are most likely to shop exclusively online (34%).
Exclusive insight by North West based fashion house Luxe Collective has identified key fashion trends in global search volumes online with the results revealing that the UK has the highest volume of searches for ‘second hand designer clothes’ (43%), while ‘second hand designer hand-bags’ also secured the top spot of 32% of search volumes worldwide.

According to the IPA, 40% of British shoppers plan to be more sustainable this Christmas, up 36% in 2021.
Meanwhile one in five (22%) are motivated to buy their Christmas presents from stockists because they want to be able to discover unexpected ‘treasure finds’ as well as gifts that are deemed to be thoughtful purchases.
Further studies reveal that 42% are more open to receiving a second-hand Christmas gift and 19% said that they would feel ‘grateful’ receiving a used gift as a Christmas present.
Ben Gallagher, Co-Founder at Luxe Collective explains: “Alongside consumers’ desire for value is quality and that’s what we strive to communicate to our customers.”
“People are increasingly becoming more accepting of buying and receiving carefully selected second-hand items and that’s why we’re encouraging consumers to think about shopping more sustainably this Christmas.”
“That pre-owned treasure find for the ideal Christmas gift could be found online and it’s a practical way of sharing conscious values with loved ones whilst looking after the planet.”
