The sophisticated pool parties in Ibiza with ocean view cocktails and great food and dance scene may have to wait until next year, but no doubt the rich and famous will be back soon to explore the islands popular tourist attractions and opulent views.
The four-part series follows the lives of 10 young Brits as they kickstart their careers. From VIP hosts to naked butler, the only shot they’ll have at surviving in paradise is by following their dreams, working hard and avoiding the non-stop temptations. Watch the drama unfold as these brits navigate relationships and working life for the first time.
Filmed over 6 weeks, the series takes us through the highs and lows of a season working in Ibiza. The series will be voiced by BBC Radio 1 host Maya Jama.
The Cast
Sanchez Payne
Sanchez is on his first season in Ibiza, working as a VIP host at Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Sanchez used to be a professional football player for Leeds United but his career was brought to a halt after an injury, now he’s pursuing his DJ career on the island.
“To make it in Ibiza you have to be strong willed. The island can be the making of you, full of opportunities and beautiful surroundings, or it can swallow you up with the consistent day and nightlife and can feel lonely at times so you have to be ready to deal with whatever comes your way.”
Liam and Callum Hood join their best friend George in becoming videographers on the party isle. The trio quit their 9-5s and invested their life savings in video equipment, hoping to make promos for top venues on the island including Ocean Beach. This year, they’ve challenged themselves to go tee-total to see if cleaning up their lifestyle will launch their careers.
“The best tip I could give anybody and the most important thing I’ve ever learnt is – when you master your mind, body and soul you will master your life. Work hard, follow your heart and remember everything happens for a reason.”
After working as a shot girl at Ocean Beach last season, this year Cat hasn’t been so lucky. After job hunting, she meets someone new in her apartments who inspires her to pursue her career as a swimming instructor
“I wouldn’t say there is a correct way to make it in Ibiza. But definitely knowing the right people and trying to get involved with everything that’s going on with events and parties. Then slowly you will become noticed by others and start making Ibiza into your own. There are groups that people make for workers that are amazing make you feel like you are a part of something and that you’re not alone when you’re flying out there for the first time.”
Lauren Siedlecki
“The first season is always the hardest and a bit overwhelming so it’s getting to know people and making friends and knowing who to go to for certain things like apartments or jobs. Friendships are a lot easier to make out there because people are not judging you. Everyone is out there to have a good time!”
Lauren dreams of building her Instagram following using Ibiza as a glamorous backdrop, but is faced with having to find a job to make ends meet.
Jessica Kelty Simpson
A hairstylist from Dublin, Jess is hoping to make a living in Ibiza styling and colouring hair.
Jake Herbert
Jake quit his call centre job to become a “butler-in-the-buff” for the island’s hen party market.
“Do a unique job, something that you’re good at. Most importantly if you want to last in Ibiza you have to do something you enjoy.”
Ibiza Dreams is available to watch at 6am on Sunday 21st June on BBC Three. Listen to the soundtrack on BBC Sounds
